A manual adjustment begins with motion palpation of the involved joints. After this initial assessment, the manual adjustment is done by a combination of controlled force and speed to restore mobility and ultimately relieve pain.
The chiropractic adjustment works in two ways. First, it provides pain relief to the affected areas. Second, it allows the body to properly heal itself. Fixations of the spine cause a breakdown in communication between the brain and the rest of the body. The spinal adjustment restores mobility and the communication the body needs for peak performance and function.
WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE?
The physicians at our office are thoroughly trained in multiple techniques, so they are able to deliver the most effective treatment or adjustment to address the needs of the patient. Many patients feel immediate relief following chiropractic treatment, but some may experience mild soreness, stiffness or aching, just as they do after some forms of exercise. The ultimate goal is to provide relief of neck pain, back pain, issues in the extremities, or other conditions.
WHAT CAN BE ADJUSTED?
Chiropractors can adjust more than just the spine. All joints ranging from the shoulder and knee and even the TMJ (jaw) can be examined and treated by a chiropractic physician.
IS IT SAFE?
Yes! Chiropractic is widely recognized as one of the safest drug-free, non-invasive therapies available for the treatment of neuromusculoskeletal complaints. Although chiropractic has an excellent safety record, no health treatment is completely free of potential adverse effects. The risks associated with chiropractic, however, are very small.
IS IT SAFE FOR KIDS?
Kids who are under chiropractic care see medical doctors less often for illnesses such as sinusitis, allergies, otitis media (ear infections), colds and flu! As a result of fewer illnesses, chiropractic kids miss less school and are better able to excel in their studies.
