COMMON INJURIES FROM AUTO ACCIDENTS
Our practice commonly sees patients that suffer from long-term damage to the spine and head caused from auto accidents. Many of these patients felt minor aches and pains after the  auto accident that progressively worsened with time and activity. Just remember, there is no such thing as a minor concussion, just as there is no such thing as a minor auto accident. Sometimes accidents at speeds of 10 miles per hour or less can cause devastating long-term pain if not addressed appropriately. WHIPLASH
Nearly one-third of auto accidents caused by rear end collisions cause a whiplash injury. Imagine you are sitting at a stop sign waiting for the light to turn green when all of the sudden you hear the screeching tires of a truck slamming its brakes as it approaches your bumper. As the impact takes place, your body that is in contact with the seat, is thrown forward. At the same time your head, which is not physically in contact or connected to the car, is delayed in movement. As a result, your head follows a fraction of a second slower leading into hyperextension. This sudden movement can cause of the head to move forward and backward a number of times, and injuries can occur. These include but are not limited to:
Tearing of the front neck muscles
Tearing of the ligaments of the neck
Disc Herniation
Fracture
Misalignments of the spine called Subluxation
