A trigger point is an area of the body where the muscles have suffered an injury resulting in pain, tightness, bruising, etc. These trigger points can occur anywhere in the body, but most frequently are found in the upper back and shoulders. Due to their location, trigger points can also be a cause of headaches and migraines. Trigger point injections are provided by injecting a saline solution directly into the trigger point. Because these areas can easily be felt on the outside of the body, no imaging (x-ray, ultrasound, MRI, etc) is needed to complete treatment.
